"Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth" (v. 5). This is the prayer of Jewish boys and girls in the Old Testament times. Whenever he went to bed, the little child would say, "Into Your hand I commit my spirit." When our Lord Jesus Christ gave His life for us on the cross, He said, "It is finished! Into Your hands I commend My spirit" (John 19:30; Luke 23:46). When you commit your life into God's hand, you don't have to worry about any other hand, because His hand protects you, provides for you and guides you.
It is good for us to depend on God's hand, the hand of provision, protection and guidance. What are your needs today? Have you asked God to provide for them ? Depend on the hand of God; you will find Him faithful." Whose Hands? by Dr. Warren Wiersbe
I haven't been doing this yet. I haven't been committing my spirit to God, and I haven't been asking Him to provide for me. Amazingly, He HAS been, but someone else must be praying for me faithfully because it hasn't been me! God is so good all the time. I am so NOT! Just this morning I was remembering that Sunday I was thinking ahead to all the week's plans and how in the world would I fit them all in, and to my great astonishment (why would I be so astonished at God's continuous works of mercy?!?), everything is getting done and some things are clearing out. I can see above the fog. I had to stop right there and praise Him and admit again that He is wonderful. It's so easy to trust the Lord Almighty who makes our burdens light when we lay them in His hands. But yet it's still so hard to lay them there day after day, minute after minute.Thank you Lord for being the ultimate burden-bearer. I ask you to accept my burdens: schedules, house stuff, homemaker stuff, mom stuff, wife stuff, self stuff, and assorted other sin stuff... After all that's gone, the burdens You place upon me become my joy and salvation!! Lord, I'm not feeling "in it" today. At times, I feel a second wind coming on, but at others, the race seems a little too fast and a little too long. My swiftly changing moods are reflective of my heart condition. Help me choose to serve You today. You are my Peace, my Love, my Hope, my Excitement, and my Life. Be my Rock as I am tossed by the waves of my own emotions, throw a rock at me so I'll do my bible study, rock my world as I learn more about You, and rock me to sleep when I finally lay down to rest.
IN CHRIST ALONE
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light my strength my song
This Cornerstone this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love what depths of peace
When fears are stilled when strivings cease
My Comforter my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless Babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
No guilt in life no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
