"Are you facing a situation in which you could be disappointed? Why not set up a celebration to count your blessings no matter what the outcome?
"Fear is a funny thing. It enlarges whatever we’re afraid of and shrinks our view of God. As Christians, we need to reclaim our view of God’s greatness by focusing on His presence, power, and protection when we are afraid. I don’t know about you, but my fear tends to wither away when I remember that God is present everywhere, all the time... Not only is God everywhere, but He is also all-powerful. He has unlimited power, and He delights in sharing it with you and me... As a kid on that dark street in New York City, I was imagining all sorts of things that man could do to me. But when those two guys walked us back to our car, all fear was gone! They weren’t God, but I’ve often thought that they did what God does for me every day of my life no matter where I am. Keeping God’s enduring presence, infinite power, and supernatural protection in mind will take the Jell-O right out of your knees—every time!" Strength For The Journey
"This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea." Isaiah 48:17-18
"God provided a rich relative for Ruth who had more than possessions; Boaz had honor as well. The word translated "wealth" in Ruth 2:1 is often translated "might" or "valor" in the Bible. It reflects Boaz's strength of character as much as his financial portfolio. He not only had land and houses, but he also was a man of spiritual valor, a mighty man of integrity, an upright man who had placed his trust in God... What keeps you up at night? Worry over your stocks and bonds, or agonizing over the souls of those who are lost? What are you striving for? Material wealth that will one day be left behind, or a spiritual wealth that will last for eternity? Make the right choice and then set the right priorities." Woodrow Kroll Lessons on Living
"Closing our eyes and ears to the truth could be the first step toward tragedy for ourselves as well as for others." Through the Year
"God, I want to be genuine before You, myself and others. Help me to be filled with Your light and may it show." Veneer or Real? by Tony Beckett and Woodrow Kroll
"If a man has much of the Spirit of God, he will have great conflicts with the tempter. God permits temptation because it does for us what the storms do for the oaks--it roots us; and what the fire does for the paintings on the porcelain--it makes them permanent." Streams in the Desert
"The return of Easter should be to the Christian life the call of a trumpet. It is the news of a great victory. It is the solution of a great perplexity. It is the assurance of a great triumph."
FREDERICK TEMPLE in Joy and Strength
Lord, You are so good to me. Thank You for the fresh word You gave me this morning through my study! Thanks for working on my heart and my head. Thank You for the encouragement You gave to us with a great phone conversation between M and his (maybe) future boss. Thank You that You carry our burdens. Thank You that we do not have to fear. Thank You that we don't need to be worldly wise in this decision, only wise in Your wisdom (which You will provide). Honestly, I am tempted to want and ask for as much as we can possibly get. I am tempted to want more than we need. Thank You for resisting temptation to use worldly wisdom in this matter through us. Make us set the right priorities, open to all the information - especially Your commands and direction. Remind us of Your triumph and victory. Let us celebrate together regardless of the outcome! Father, Son, and Spirit, may we sing Your praises from the highest mountain! YOU ARE MIGHTY TO SAVE! Thank you for the extra tenderness you spoke to my heart in this. I love You, too!
