Thursday

"In Acts 8:5-6, Philip brought the good news of Jesus Christ to Samaria, and the crowd there listened intently. It must have been thrilling for him to see such warm receptivity to the gospel. In spite of this, he demonstrated obedience to the Lord by immediately following instructions to leave and take the message to Gaza. Philip’s godly character was evident in his sensitivity to the Lord’s call and his willingness to obey at once, no matter the cost.

...As you approach different situations throughout the day, try to be like Philip—let the Lord guide your character, conduct, and conversation." In Touch by Charles Stanley

I'm beginning to get glimpses of what You've been preparing for me, Lord, and it's going to be an exciting challenge, I think! Thank You for last night. For the stirring of Your Spirit inside me, making my worship more authentic than it has been in a long time. For the chance meeting of a girl who is interested in a mentoring relationship. For a new online tool. For the verification that our pastor really does love us (the Newcomer's Class at Graceland Baptist) in particular and prays for each of us individually. For Edward's Awana vest and patch he won for memorizing all his scripture verses. For our church in general and how nurturing and challenging it's been already! For reconnection with Michael. For the changes he is making in his daily life to prioritize You, and the growth I've been blessed to see in him. For the time and ability to get baby stuff together to share with my sister. Thank You for yesterday morning. For the motivation to go out. For what I believe is Genevieve's first real word besides the babbling "mamamama" - her new waving hand trick with a "hi". For the patience and joy to make the best of 3 hours in Wal-Mart with 2 small children, waiting for my car to be fixed. For the food and naps.

Lord, You are good. I hope I tell You that as often as I should. I have been so blessed to be reminded to pray throughout the day, small prayers like "thank You, God!" when something goes right. But I don't pray as much when something serious or bad happens. My initial impulse is to react, not pray. I want it to be prayer "Lord, help me here!".

Some ministries that have been intriguing to me lately have been:
- art ministry at church
- nursing home visitation with the kids
- neighborhood bible study
- ABF leadership
- mentoring a couple different ladies
- dinner with some needy neighbors
- prayer ministry (praying for members of the church weekly)
- helping out a family who just had a house fire
- helping out our ABF member who just had heart surgery

But I need Your guidance to choose, to discern what Your will is. If all of them apply to me, help me find the right balance and give me the tools and the power to do them all. Help my husband to help me discern direction - You have so gifted him at that!

Thank You Father, for looking after me, for working in me and my life, for showing me where we might be headed. For being MIGHTY GOD. For loving me even when I don't deserve it and don't feel it. I love You, too.
